Last week in NYC I popped into Tiffany & Co. There is something that I love about the tradition of the little blue box at Christmas time. I don't wear much silver but I do think I might make the exception for these classics. Something nice and icy about them during the winter months.
Recently I was introduced to Boulevard bags by a stylish friend (thanks Lauren) and since then I haven't taken a single trip without one of their bags in hand.
want proof?
I love the large Sunday tote...and what I love even more than that? A monogram. A GOLD monogram. Classic.
I also have this phone caddy in bronze- it makes my phone easy to find in a big bag, but can also be used as a small bag for a fancy occasion. I think you'll love their site.
I can hardly believe it, but registration for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is open again. I just completed my registration and booked my hotel for Feb (empire. always.), and now I'll be shopping for all things dark and sleek. I rely on deep colors, dark layers, smoky eyes and rich fragrances for Feb Fashion week.
What would you consider your Fashion week must-have?
Last week, Ashley and I shared some makeup inspiration with you here, and every day since I have gotten tweets and emails about the mai couture blush papers we featured. "Do they really work? " "What color should I try?" We decided that the best way to answer is to let you test them out yourself.
Two steps to enter : 1) you must follow @dallasshaw and @maicouture on twitter (yes, it's official I have won back the title of my name on twitter and dropped the '01'! Confetti! If you followed dallasshaw01, you still follow me. Just changed the name.)
2) send us a tweet or leave a note below to enter letting us know what you love at the site!
I am spending the week wrapping up artwork instead of gifts. Good news is that some time spent in the office is much needed. I finally got some time to review some really amazing products and brands. Here are a few things I saw today that I thought you might enjoy.
I've seen embellished sweaters and sweatshirts in every store this season. Of course these are great to wear to a holiday party with a sleek black pant, but I like these even better with denim.
Don't feel like visiting every store to find your favorite? Libby, one of our fashion contributors, and I put together a list of our favorites to make it easy for you.
Happy shopping:
{ Zara - looks comfy too } { Zara- this one is my fave }{ Zara } { Zara- embellished AND metallic? Bonus. } { Sachin and Babi- I like that this has short sleeves. On my list. } { H&M- under $10? And available in two colors? Your welcome. }
I have one. And by the looks of it so does everyone else.
You've seen this image above of my subway scroll sign on my instagram page. It's been a fixture in my house for the past 5 years, moving from apartment to apartment with me. I don't think my home would feel the same without this guy.
Today on pinterest I noticed everyone else feels the same:
Thank you to Tim Kressen for this behind the scenes video. I had such a fun day with the 31 Bits team, and it was nice to see all of my friends and relive this really amazing day.
Here at Dallas Shaw.com we are all about putting the things you use every day on display in a beautiful way. I think I use hair ties more than anyone else in the world. I always have at least one on my wrist. I take my hair up and down a million times a day. I am always reaching for one while I paint, to throw on when I head out for a run... so I decided to make mine more easily accessible.
Recently I was introduced to Mane Message, so I decided to add a few of their hair ties to my collection (b/c everything looks better in excess) and now they live on my desk.
I love the idea of taking things we use every day in turning them into part of your home styling.
How do you do this at home?
Thanks for making me such a fan of yours Mane Message.

Last week, I was invited to Neiman Marcus to attend a very exclusive Fashion Show by the iconic Carolina Herrera. I was amazed at the details that went into this event (I shouldn't have been b/c it was Neiman's ). We were treated like gold. We hung out with the models, stayed for lunch and saw the new collection both backstage and on the runway.
The highlight of my day was when the pr team invited me to come and meet Ms. Herrera herself. We chatted about work, about why I live in DE, and had one of those conversations you have with your girlfriends "You look beautiful." "no YOU look beautiful." "No, you ..." I was pleased to have such a sweet conversation with such a major fashion icon.
I'm actually a little bit nervous and excited to share this with you. Months ago I was invited to CA to be a part of the new 31 Bits "Born an Original" campaign, and today it's live!! I have been having such a nice month sharing all of these projects with all of you- so I hope you'll check it out today at 31 Bits.com !
Below a little sneak peek. An illustration I did inspired by the shoot, and some photos featuring some limited edition pieces from the collection.
During this project I not only got to play in beautiful handmade jewelry, but I also got to meet some of the sweetest people I have ever worked with. I included all of their links below b/c I love them all so much- and I think you will too.
(photos by @treverhoehne- I think I'm his biggest fan these days.)
some info for you: 'The 31 Bits "Born an Original" collection includes handmade, eye-catching accessories, including the very first 31Bits clutch. As a thank you for going through all of these adventures with me, I wanted to give you a chance to take one of the limited edition pieces home. One of these beauties, (the Lavalliere- retailing at $74.00) is going home with a stylish reader.
Another one of this weeks highlights was being featured on Serena and Lily. I want to thank Serena and Lily for not only including me on their website as one of their featured Stye Guru's, but giving me the opportunity to be on the same page as so many of my favorite people in this industry. I think they are most likely some of your favorites to- so I hope you'll check it out.
